This time round I tried out the Crazy Horse Bund strap by vario.sg. This strap is the stock strap of the Vario 1918 Trench Watch and 1918 Medic Watch. It comes in 18mm and 20mm width and can be bought separately on their website.
The specimens I received are 20mm models in cinnamon brown and mahogany brown. Let’s take a look.
This strap is made from Crazy Horse leather which is strong and durable. The leather develops a patina with time and usage thus giving it a unique character.
The long end measures 120mm while the short end is 80mm excluding the buckle. Note that this measurement is for the 20mm model that I have here. The strap is 20mm from lug end to buckle end, un-tapered. It has a thickness of approximately 2.5mm.
The “bund pad” has a length of 115mm and the widest part is around 42mm. I believe it is suitable for watches with up to 40mm diameter excluding the crown.
Below are some pictures of the strap installed on my Seiko 5 military (39.4mm diameter) and Oris Big Crown (40mm diameter).
Final thoughts:
I find that the Crazy Horse Bund Strap by vario.sg is an excellent strap with good workmanship and quality hardware (buckle and rivets). It is the stock strap for Vario’s 1918 watches but also work very well with other watches. It is very easy to install and wears comfortably due to the soft and smooth leather on the underside of the strap. Overall, this is a perfect strap if you are looking to create a rugged or aged vintage look for your watch.
