This time round I had the opportunity to try out the new Cordura single pass nylon strap by vario.sg. I saw a picture of its prototype several months ago and today, I’m happy that I finally get to try out the final product. Let’s take a look.


The Cordura single pass strap is made with 1000 denier Cordura nylon fabric which is coated and densely woven. It is highly resistant to wear and tear, and can be used in tough conditions such as diving, hiking and mounting climbing.

The back of the strap is lined with cotton to make it comfortable on the wrist. In addition, the holes are riveted to prevent fraying. The stainless steel hardware are brush finished to match its rugged look.

The strap measures 260mm excluding the buckle. It should fit most people without having to fold and tuck the tail end into the loops.

buckle end to outermost hole: 235mm

It is recommended to remove the spring bars when installing the strap. This is because the rivets may not pass through the watch when the spring bars are attached and they may scratch the watch if you try to force it.

Below are some pictures of the strap on my Seiko Scallop and Turtle. The strap passed through the Seiko Scallop with spring bars attached whereas on the Seiko Turtle, I need to remove the spring bars during installation.

Final thoughts:
The Cordura single pass nylon strap is quite unique because there are no similar straps in the market. This is a premium strap that is very well made and nice to wear. Much thought has gone into its design and choice of material. The material is stronger than most nato and zulu straps. It is able to support heavy watches such as divers and chronographs. My favorite colours are the army green and khaki brown. The colour and texture of the Cordura material really give watch a rugged look.
