This time round, l had the opportunity to handle the other Seiko 5 Sports model that I mentioned in my post titled “Update on Seiko 5 models in Singapore“. As mentioned the post, this model does not have a rotating bezel like most Seiko 5 Sports models do. It is also has an unusual case design that is different from its Seiko 5 counterparts.

Orient CEM6V001B – Close Cousin of the Orient Star SOMES

Fans of JDM Orient watches are probably familiar with the Orient SOMES by now. It is nicknamed “Orient SOMES” because the leather strap was made by SOMES, a Japanese horse riding equipment manufacturer.

Recently, my local Orient distributor brought the lesser known cousin of the Orient SOMES into the local market. I’ve got a specimen here so let me post some pictures of it and perhaps owners of the Orient SOMES can tell me how similar the two watches are.

Went to Big Time last weekend to look at the SBBN019 in person. This is a commemorative watch for the 45th Anniversary of Seiko diver’s watch and is limited to 300 pieces only.

Seiko Diver’s Watch 45th Anniversary

Seiko released a new shrouded diver (SBBN019) to commemorate the 45th anniversary of its diver’s watch. Included in the package is a metal card that list out some of their landmark divers with many listed as “world’s first”.

Orient 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch – DT00002W

Orient celebrated its 60th Anniversary on 13th July 2010 and a “60th Anniversary” limited edition watch was released to commemorate the event. There are two variants of the watch, one with stainless steel case and another one with a gold(4 micron) plated case.

Each variant is limited to 1500 pieces worldwide and I am privileged to be able to pick up the stainless steel variant.
