Orient GMT International Model – FFE06001B

I finally got the opportunity to handle the new Orient GMT. This is an international model that was released in four colour variants. The specimen that I have here is the black dialed variant – model# FFE06001B.

Let’s take a look.

This watch is powered by the Orient 46P40 automatic movement. According to Orient’s website, the movement is made in Japan. You can also see the words “JAPAN MOV’T” at the bottom of the dial next to the 6 o’clock marker. The movement is equipped with a 24 hour indicator hand (cannot be set independently) and quick set date.

Looking at the watch from various angles, you will notice that the case design resembles that of the Seiko Samurai to a certain degree especially the lugs and crown guard.

The bezel rotates in both directions and makes 72 clicks per round. There are compass and 24 hour marking on the bezel that makes the watch both a GMT and an adventure watch.

Here’s another view of the watch. You can see that it is fitted with a flat crystal.

The crown is not signed but screws in.

Shown below is the caseback shot. Watch comes with solid caseback and has a water resistance of 200m as shown.

The watch comes with a oyster style metal bracelet with push button clasp and safety catch.

Diameter: 45mm excluding crown
Lug to lug: 50mm
Thickness: 13.6mm
Lug width: 22mm

Lume shot:

Here are all the colour variants:

FFE06001B and FFE06001K

FFE06001W and FFE06002D

  1. That watch looks great! You are right that it has similarities to the samurai, but the bezel reminds me of the fieldmaster you recently reviewed. I guess this is because of the compass and the black/white split.

    Thanks for sharing this.

  2. Nice watch, reminds me of my white Seiko ‘Atlas’… May b interested in getting one to add to my Orient watch collections of x2 Orient ‘Sub’ (Sapphire & Non-Sapphire version) & a Orient ‘Date-Just’… Orient’s watches Power-Reserve jus nvr fails to let me down as compared to Seiko’s…

    • Hi Francis,

I realized I made a mistake here. The bezel actually makes 72 clicks per round which means it rotates by 5 degrees only. (Mistake has been correct in the text above).

You are right that 7.5 degrees is needed to display a second timezone.

      Best regards,

  4. Hi Yeoman,

Currently, i m interested with Orient Excursionist FFE06001K version. How do you think about this model? FYI, i m new to the orient. it is written that it make the use of 46P40 movement. do you think that this movement stable compared to swiss eta 2824-2 movement? is this watch solid and durable?

    Thanks for the attention.

    • Hi Hendri,

The 46P40 is a low cost but very stable movement. It beats at 21600bph whereas the 2824 beats at 28800bph. Also, the 2824 comes with hack and handwind whereas the 46P40 does not.

The Orient FFE06001 is definitely a solid and durable watch.

      Best regards,

      • Hi Yeoman,

Thanks for the prompt reply to my questions.

I like Orient FFE06001 and plan to purchase it. However, i found that the size is quite big, which is 45mm. So i m quite hesitate about it. Do you think that the size is too big for my around 6 inch wrist? Thanks in advance for your advices.

  5. i noticed that when i unlocked and pulled out the crown to the fullest extent, the stem somehow is not ‘straight’–so is this an issue and should i bring the watch back to Big Time for an inspection?

  6. hello, tom.

i just bought it 09/01,(it’s a little too late), but i’m happy with my purchase. it’s ffe06001k model, brown dial, i guess,(i love to have colorful collections) and it fits to my 6.5 inch wrist.it cost almost usd200,thanks to the weak rupiah this week! (compare to usd150 for my blue mako II i bought a year ago). and now i wanna ask u a question, how to use a compass?
