I own a couple of 6R15 watches from the Seiko Mechanical line and have handled a number of others in the same line but this time round, I had the opportunity to handle a 6R15 from the Premier line. The watch I handled is the SPB011J. It is not a new release. If I remember correctly, it was released in 2007 along with a black dial (SPB009J) and a white dial (SPB007J) variant.
The SPB011J specimen I got here is a used piece so while looking at its features, I’ll also get a chance to see what disadvantages the used watch will reveal.
The SPB011J is an international model under the Premier line and adopts the standard case design that you see on most watches under this line. Its design is characterized by its unique lug and crown guard design, as well as the rib design found on both sides on the body.
The watch uses a combination of brushed and polished finishing. Polished finishing is applied to the bezel and the unsigned crown as well as part of the crown guard. The lugs and sides of the case are brushed finished.
The rib design on both sides of the case also uses a combination of brushed and polished finishing with the concave side being polished. Being a used watch, I can see foggy marks as well as some dust trapped in the concave side of the rib design as illustrated in the pictures below. The foggy marks are most likely caused by water. Water could be trapped in there, leaving the foggy marks on the polished surface when the it dries. User needs to clean the watch often to prevent these marks from becoming permanent.
This is probably a disadvantage of the design that the used watch reveals.
This model I have here has a brown color dial with waffle texture. The hands are long and very well finished. I particularly like the second hand which in my opinion has better finishing than the second hand found on most of the JDM 6R15 models.
The basic information about the watch are found on the caseback. They include:
- The movement and case number 6R15-00F0
- Serial number
- Sapphire crystal
- Made in Japan
- 10 bar resistance
- Stainless steel
The engraving is nicely done and it even has the Seiko and Premier names engraved in big and original font.
The 6R15 movement in the watch is the same one used in its JDM counterparts. It has black color text stamped on the rotor.
The watch comes with a matching brown strap made of calf leather. It is fitted with a folding buckle with push button lock.
Below are the measurements of the watch.
Diameter: 42mm excluding crown
Thickness: 11mm
Lug to lug: 52mm
Lug width: 21mm

I own the 6R15-00FO. My strap has worn out and I have tried many retail shops in Kuala Lumpur and the answer back is that the straps have been obsoleted by Seiko and to use a ‘normal’ strap. Is there a way I can order the original strap back?

I did try through PK time in Kuala Lumpur, after 3 months, they claim it’s discontinued. Do you have contacts of anyone I could try?
