There aren’t many rectangular automatic watches from Japanese manufacturers so this time round, I decided to take a look at one. The watch I got is an affordable one from Orient. Model number is CFNAB004B.

This is a very basic watch that features a rectangular case design and textured dial. The date window is located at the 3 O’clock position and the day window at the 9 O’clock position. The day window includes the AM and PM indicator which is the same as the watch below that I featured in a previous blog entry.

Unlike the green watch, this rectangular model has a smaller day and AM/PM window which I feel is more pleasing to look at.

When set correctly, the watch should be showing ‘PM’ when date change is about to take place (see picture above).

Below is the side profile of the watch. It has a signed crown and a pusher for day and AM/PM setting. Please visit the link above to for the setting instruction.

The watch measures 36mm across excluding crown and 48mm from lug to lug. It is approximately 12.5mm thick.

This model comes with a black leather strap and signed buckle. The watchhas 24mm lug width.

Besides the AM/PM model, Orient also makes a similar rectangular model with pointer day. Here’s a white dial version.
