This time round I had the opportunity to handle this international model Orient GMT – DJ05003W. This watch has a very good built quality and I believe it is one of the top models (excluding Orient Star of course) among the models that are being offered in the international market. The watch comes with a hack and handwind movement and the GMT hand can be set independently. This is the second Orient GMT model under the DJ series. First model was the DJ02003W from 2011.
Here’s a quick look:
The movement is quite simple to use. Crown at second click position allows you to set the time. As you turn the crown, the hour and minute hands will move, so does the GMT hand. Crown at first click position allows you to set the date when turned in clockwise direction.
Once you have set the time and date correctly on the watch, put the crown to its first click position and turn it in anti-clockwise direction to set the GMT hand. This allows you to set the GMT hand without affecting the hour and minute hands.
The watch come with a nice textured dial. It has blue hands as well as three dimensional shaped hour markers. The watch comes with power reserve feature and is fitted with a flat Sapphire crystal.
The caseback indicates that the watch is Made in Japan.
The DJ05003W comes with genuine leather strap fitted with Orient deployant buckle.
