Orient Aviator Style – ER2A003B

This time round I had the opportunity to check out this aviator style watch from Orient. This model comes in several different colour variants. This one I have here is the classic black dial and stainless steel case combo.

Here’s a quick review.

Dial:
Like most aviator style watches, it does not have a minute chapter ring. The minute indices are incorporated on the dial itself. The hour markers are represented by minute readings (5,10,15,20…) instead of hour readings (1,2,3,4…). Hour readings are in smaller print on the inner part of the dial. One feedback I saw on the Internet is that the use of cursive font does not go well with the aviator dial design.

Crown:
The watch came with screw in crown which is a plus point.

Side profile:
The watch has brushed finishing on the sides. Crown is not signed though.

Caseback:
Solid caseback which again is a plus point for me.

Strap:
Thick leather strap with matt finishing. Signed buckle. This is a nice strap but if I get this watch, I probably would try other strap options such as nylon or bund. That’s the fun of having an aviator watch.

Lume:
Lume is very bright on this watch. Photo below does not do justice.

Here are a few more photos for your viewing pleasure.

Diameter: 42mm excluding crown
Lug width: 22mm
Thickness: 11.6mm
Water resistance: 100m

      • Most probabely you already know, this aviator watch have a dial named “B” type, as “Bomber” the bombers in the WWI and WW2 release the bombs at given minutes from a reference point, so they need bigger minutes dial.
The aviator use the dial Type “A”, like “Aviator” because for them the watch hours position was used to mark the position of the fighters enemy. Anyway it is a very beautyfull watch, I have the same but black pvd case.
