Seiko 5 Sports 100m Model – SNZH57K

Here’s a Seiko 5 Sports model that was released in the Singapore market recently. I posted a cellphone shot in a previous blog entry and was surprised by amount of attention it received. So this time round, I am posting some proper pictures and information for those who are interested.

Let’s take a look.

As mentioned earlier, this is a Seiko 5 Sports 100m model so you would expect to see standard Seiko 5 features such as non screw-in crown, see-through caseback and folded bracelet end links. What makes this model slightly different from other models is the gold accents which remind people of the 6159-7001.

Two other prominent features that make it special are the curved crystal and glossy protective layer on its bezel insert. Below is a picture showing these features. The glossy layer is hard to capture but you can see it from the reflection of the ’20’, ’40’ and ’50’ markings on the bezel.

Here is another shot showing how the crystal looks like. Notice that there is a silver coloured circle on inner part of the bezel that is surrounds the crystal. This part probably reminds you of the Omega Planet Ocean or the Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT.

The hour markers are gold coloured and not luminous except for a small lume square applied at one end of each marker. The saving grace is, the hour and minute hands are wide and are covered with plenty of lume.

Still, for those who like their watches full of lume, I’m afraid you will be disappointed here.

Below is a caseback shot showing the see-through caseback and folded bracelet end links.

The watch comes with solid link bracelet with the standard Seiko clasp with push button lock and catch.

This watch is distributed in Singapore by the distributor, Thong Sia Group. It has a list price of SGD349.90 inclusive of 7% GST. (Note: Price is mentioned for reference only. I do not sell watches).

Price shown is in Singapore currency

The watch is powered by the 7S36 movement and here are the physical measurements:

Diameter: 41mm excluding crown
Thickness: 13mm approximately
Lug width: 22mm

  1. Tanks Yeoman.

That’s a great looking watch, and a superb review too.
Do you know the model number of the black/white rotating besel and dial that you pictured with your cell phone on your related post?

  2. WOW!
    I really love this watch!
Would you know about any store/person that might help me get this watch to Sweden.
I love it, and with a NATO strap on my wrist in Stockholm I would go mad! 🙂

Such a lovely piece from Seiko. The curved crystal really make this model stand out from the rest. Nice solid watch and your photos are fantastic!

  9. It’s been mentioned countless times but i really hate the fact that Seiko adds the “Seiko 5 Sports” to the Seiko 5 line of watches. It’s like adding “extreme” to the name of something. just not needed and make’s the watch really appear to be a budget watch no matter how nice the watch looks. Even if the kept the “seiko 5” but dropped the “sports” i think they would do better with this line.

I’m also picking up a SKZ325 today mostly because of your review and pictures. Thanks!

    • I understand what you mean. Unfortunately, future “5” models I saw on the catalog continue to have the “Seiko 5 Sports”. The good news is, there will be more new models with just “Seiko”. This include a new Presage line that will come with the 4R3X movement.

    • Hi Mr T,

Seiko 5 is a product line of Seiko. There are various models in this line including the SNZH57K featured in this post. Seiko 5 Fathoms is a modified SNZH57K. From what I understand, the dial on the SNZH57K was replaced with a custom dial (shown below). The modified watch resembles the Blanpain Fifty Fathoms and hence it was called Seiko “Fifty five Fathoms”.

      fff dial

From what I know, this watch is currently out of stock. It is very hard to get one today.

      Best regards,
      Thomas
